— The short version

Almost everything the app stores stays on your child's device — no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising. The one exception: a handful of AI-assisted practice features — Writing Coach, Mistake Vault, and an optional check in basic Write practice — send text your child has written, or the specific things they've been getting wrong, to Google's Gemini AI to generate feedback or revision tips. Writing Coach can also optionally read a photo of your child's handwriting the same way. Photos are never stored by us — only the text Gemini reads from them — and a photo is checked on the device, before it's sent anywhere, to block it if it looks like a photo of a person rather than handwriting. Some other practice modes (SPAG, Comprehension, Figurative Language) also use Gemini, but only to generate new practice content — they never send anything your child has written. The full text below explains the details required by Google Play, Apple, COPPA and the UK GDPR.

Who we are

Elevenplus FC ("we", "our", "the app") is a vocabulary learning application for children preparing for the United Kingdom 11+ entrance examination. This privacy policy describes what information the app handles and how.

What we collect

Data stored locally on the device

The app stores the following information only on the user's device using the device's secure local storage. This data never leaves the device and is never transmitted to any server operated by us or anyone else:

This data is retained on the device until the user uninstalls the app, clears the app's data via the device system settings, or uses the in-app "Clear all data" option.

AI-assisted features

The app includes several optional practice features powered by Google's Gemini AI. Some of these send content your child has written or gotten wrong off the device to generate a response; others only ask Gemini to generate new practice content and never send anything the child has written. This section explains each one in full.

Writing Coach

An optional feature that gives a child AI-generated feedback on a piece of creative writing.

Why the app requests camera access: for one purpose only — letting a child capture an image of a page of handwritten work so it can be read and given feedback, instead of typing it out. Typing is always available and is the default; the camera is never required to use this feature or any other part of the app, and the permission is only requested at the moment a child taps "Add a photo of your writing".

Mistake Vault

An optional feature that turns the specific things a child has been getting wrong (tracked quietly as they practise SPAG, Comprehension, Figurative Language and vocabulary) into a small set of personalised revision tips. When a child chooses to generate these, the words, concepts, and example answers they've gotten wrong are sent to Google's Gemini API so it can write a memorable tip for each one. The generated tips are stored only on the device.

Write practice — optional AI check

The basic "Write" practice mode (writing one sentence using a vocabulary word) is checked instantly on the device and needs no network connection to complete. After that instant check passes, a child can optionally tap "Get an AI check" to have Gemini judge whether the word's meaning was used correctly — only that one sentence is sent, and only if the child chooses to ask for it.

SPAG, Comprehension & Figurative Language — content generation only

These practice modes also use Google's Gemini API, but only to generate new practice questions, passages, or examples for the child to work through. Nothing the child writes or gets wrong is sent for these — the request only specifies the topic and difficulty level.

Google processes all of the above under its own privacy terms for the Gemini API, available at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms. We do not control how Google's systems process a request once it is sent, beyond the safety filtering we configure on our side.

What we don't collect

We do not:

Third-party services

Google's Gemini API is the only third-party service that ever receives anything a child has written, gotten wrong, or a captured image of their writing. The other services below are also contacted by the app or website, but only for generic, non-personal purposes — loading a word image by its identifier, a payment already handled by the platform, or a standard web request that never mentions your child.

Google Gemini AI

Writing Coach, Mistake Vault, and Write practice's optional AI check (see above) send writing text, weak-spot concepts, or optionally a photo of handwriting, to Google's Gemini API (ai.google.dev) to generate feedback, revision tips, or to transcribe handwritten photos. This is the only third-party service in the app that receives content the child has written, gotten wrong, or a captured image of their writing. (SPAG, Comprehension, and Figurative Language also call Gemini, but only to generate new practice content — never anything the child has written.) Google's Gemini API terms are at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.

These requests are sent through a small relay server we operate, which forwards them to Google's Gemini API and passes the response back to the app. The relay exists so that our API key is never embedded in the app itself. It does not store or log the child's writing, photos, or the text transcribed from them — the content passes through only for the moment needed to forward the request and return Google's response.

Word images

The app displays a small illustrative image for each vocabulary word. These images are our own and are served from our content delivery network, Cloudflare R2 (cloudflare.com). When the app loads a word image:

Cloudflare's own privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Children's privacy

The app is designed for children aged approximately 9 to 11 (UK Year 4 to Year 6). We comply fully with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), including the extended protections for users under 13 (and under 16 in some EU jurisdictions).

Specifically:

If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected personal information from your child, please contact us at support@elevenplusfc.co.uk and we will investigate and respond promptly.

Cookies & website tracking

This website (www.elevenplusfc.co.uk) does not use cookies, analytics, or any form of tracking. You may have noticed there is no cookie consent banner on this site — that is intentional. There is nothing to consent to.

Specifically, this website does not use:

The only cookies your browser may set when visiting this site are essential to the function of your browser itself (such as ones managing how the page is rendered). These are not set by us.

Web fonts

Typography on this website is served from Google Fonts (fonts.google.com). When your browser loads a page on this site, it makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com to download the font files. This request includes your IP address and basic browser information, in the same way every web request does. Google does not set cookies or use this information to track or profile users in connection with the Google Fonts service. Their privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Server logs

This website is hosted by Netlify. Netlify's servers keep brief technical access logs (which include IP addresses and the URLs requested) for the purpose of operating the service, detecting abuse, and ensuring availability. We do not have direct access to these logs and do not use them for any analytic, marketing, or tracking purpose. Netlify's privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy.

Why no banner?

Cookie consent banners are required under UK GDPR and the EU ePrivacy Directive only when a website uses cookies or similar tracking that requires user consent. Because this website does not use any such cookies or tracking, no banner is required and we have chosen not to add one. We believe banners that ask consent for things that don't exist are misleading and we won't pretend otherwise.

In-app purchases

The app offers a single one-time premium upgrade that unlocks the full vocabulary library. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS. We do not receive, store, or process payment information of any kind. Neither credit card numbers nor billing addresses ever touch the app.

For guidance on managing in-app purchases and parental controls:

Data deletion

Because all data is stored locally on the device, users can delete all their data at any time using any of the following methods:

  1. Use the "Clear all data" option in the app's Profile screen.
  2. Uninstall the app — all data is removed immediately.
  3. Use the operating system's "Clear data" or "Clear storage" option for the app, in the device's Settings.

We do not operate a server that stores any of this data, so there is nothing on our side to delete. Writing text, photos, and weak-spot details sent to Google's Gemini API for Writing Coach, Mistake Vault, or Write practice's optional AI check pass through Google's systems to generate a response but are not stored by us at any point — see Google's Gemini API terms for how Google itself handles that request.

Child safety

We have published standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). The app contains no user-to-user communication, no public-facing content, no external links within the learning flow, and no features that could facilitate harm to children.

If you encounter any content or experience in our app that causes concern, or if you wish to report a child safety issue, please contact our safety point of contact: support@elevenplusfc.co.uk.

We treat all child-safety reports as a priority and respond as quickly as possible. We cooperate fully with relevant authorities when required.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, notify users of the change inside the app before the new policy takes effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
