About the app

What age is this app for?

Elevenplus FC is designed for children aged 9 to 11 — UK Year 4, 5, and 6. It is most useful in the 12 to 18 months leading up to the 11+ exam, though motivated Year 3 pupils can also get value from the early tier.

Which 11+ exam does this prepare for?

The app is tailored to the vocabulary requirements of the UK 11+ entrance examinations, including GL Assessment and CEM papers used by grammar schools and many independent schools across England.

The focus is on the specific register of academic English that appears in comprehension passages, synonym / antonym questions, and the kind of written expression young people are asked to produce.

How is this different from flashcard apps I've tried before?

Three things, primarily:

Curation. The 1200+ words were chosen from actual 11+ past papers and high-frequency texts, not auto-generated from a frequency list. Every word earned its place.

Depth per word. Each entry includes an illustrative image, example sentence, synonyms, antonyms, and etymology where it aids memory. Vocabulary isn't a definition — it's a network of associations, and the app teaches the network.

Writing practice. Recognition (flashcards) and recall (quiz) aren't enough. The creative writing mode asks the child to use the word in their own sentence — the deepest test of genuine understanding.

How long should my child use it each day?

Short, daily sessions beat long, irregular ones — every bit of research on learning supports this. We'd suggest 10 to 15 minutes, five days a week. The default session size is 20 cards (changeable in Profile), which most children finish in about 8 minutes.

Payment & Premium

What's free and what's paid?

The first 100 words are free forever. All three practice modes (flashcards, quiz, creative writing), all features, and all the learning infrastructure are available on the free tier.

The Premium upgrade unlocks the remaining 1100+ words — the advanced comprehension tier, rarer vocabulary, and deeper etymology content. A one-time payment, lifetime access.

Regular price: £9.99. Launch offer: £4.99 for a limited time.

What's the launch offer?

We launched the app at a discounted price of £4.99 (regular price £9.99) to help build our first community of users. The discount runs for a limited time.

If you buy at the launch price, your purchase is permanent — you will never be charged the regular price retrospectively, and your lifetime access remains lifetime regardless of future pricing.

Is it a subscription?

No. It is a one-time payment (£9.99, currently £4.99 on launch offer). You will never be charged again. Lifetime access — no renewals, no upsells, no "pro tier 2" waiting in the wings.

I bought Premium on one device — can I use it on another?

Yes. Install the app on the second device, open the Premium screen, and tap "Restore purchase". As long as you are signed into the same Google Play or Apple account, Premium will unlock.

The app also checks for existing purchases automatically on first launch, so in most cases restoration happens without you needing to tap anything.

What if the child uninstalls the app?

Their learning progress (streaks, known words, writing entries) is stored on the device and will be lost. The Premium purchase, however, is tied to the Google or Apple account and will restore automatically when the app is reinstalled.

Privacy & safety

What data does the app collect about my child?

None. All information stays on the device. We have no server, no account system, no analytics, and no advertising. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Are there ads?

No. Not in the free tier, not anywhere. Advertising has no place in an app used by children.

Does it work offline?

Mostly, yes. All learning content is bundled with the app, so flashcards, quizzes, and writing practice all work offline. The only feature that requires an internet connection is the fetching of illustrative images from Unsplash, which are then cached locally.

Technical

Which devices are supported?

Android phones and tablets running Android 8 (Oreo) or later. An iOS version for iPhone and iPad is in development.

Can my child use it on a tablet?

Yes. The app scales to tablet screens. Some families find tablets preferable for study because the larger flashcard view is easier to read and the larger keyboard makes the creative writing mode more comfortable.

Is there a web version?

Not at present. The app is mobile-only for now. If there is strong demand we may build one — let us know if you'd value it.

How do I report a bug?

Email support@elevenplusfc.co.uk with as much detail as you can — what you were doing, the device, the operating system version, and ideally a screenshot. We read everything and aim to reply within two working days.
